Quarterpath Dental is a completely paperless office. Although you can register in-office before your appointment, we encourage you to pre-register using the link below. If you have any questions about the required forms or the registration process, please give us a call at (757) 345-2295.

To prepare for your first appointment, we advise looking up directions ahead of time and arriving about 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. This gives you ample time to arrive without the stress of being late.

We also recommend making a list of questions or concerns that you would like to discuss with our dentists during your examination. Possible questions you may want to ask include:

  • What type of toothpaste should I be using?
  • Am I brushing/flossing properly?
  • Do I need mouthwash?
  • Why do my gums bleed?
  • Should I be using an electric or manual toothbrush?
  • How can I improve my oral health?

During your dental appointment, you can expect to have dental x-rays taken, an oral examination, and professional teeth cleaning. Dental x-rays are quick and painless, and will allow our dentists to see the underlying bone structure, as well as any possible cavities.

During the oral examination, our dentists will evaluate your teeth, gums, and bite. They will check for any external signs of tooth decay or gum disease, and make sure your jaw is functioning properly. If you have any dental health or hygiene concerns, you can discuss these with our dentists during your exam.

Finally, your appointment will conclude with professional teeth cleaning. During a professional tooth cleaning, a special dental tool called a scaler is used to gently scrape plaque and tartar off the outer enamel of your teeth. Then, your teeth are brushed, flossed, and rinsed to remove any remaining debris. They will then have a fluoride polish applied to them to prevent future tooth decay. Once your appointment is complete, we will schedule your next six month checkup for a later date.

We look forward to seeing you soon for your first appointment!
